Antigua's Queen of Cool
Antigua-born, New-York trained Staci Humphreys describes herself as a special-effects artist, which seems to mean that she has an extraordinary gift for creating astounding effects with makeup, paint, hair, prosthetics … you name it. Whether you need to fake a car accident or metamorphose into a blushing bride, a gruesome ghoul, a carnival queen or a drop-dead gorgeous sexy mama, Staci’s definitely your girl.
Her most recent creations caused something of a stir. And the international press has homed in. CNN anchorman Tony Harris spotted her jaw-dropping Avatar figures (based on those in Cameron’s blockbuster movie) on the streets of carnival. He was blown away, demanded to meet their creator … and ended up waiting patiently in her Mingles salon in Antigua for almost an hour for an interview. It doesn’t get much cooler than that.
Serious talent like this c an’t be constrained. Staci is heading off for further training in New York and then for what she terms “real hard-core” special effects work in California. Yet Antigua is her first love and she remains committed to pursuing her blossoming career there. Who knows where it will lead? But with a film commission and several other major projects on the horizon, you’d be wise to book her well in advance.
In the meantime, all eyes are glued on that salon door to see what other amazing creations will emerge…
