Silver Point Hotel

The steady trade winds rolling up from the Atlantic entice windsurfers from all over the world to flock to this water-sports haven.

Less active holidaymakers are drawn by the fabulous four-poster daybeds on the expansive beachfront deck – where stylish orange and brown muslin curtains shelter sun-worshippers from the wind as they soak up the peaceful atmosphere and cast an eye over the action on the beach below.

The rough sea is perfect for surfing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and boogie-boarding (available at the nearby Water Sports Centre). However, this bustling beach isn’t the best spot to sunbathe or for small children to paddle.

For a more relaxing soak take a 10-minute drive to the calmer, child-friendly Miami Beach, or cool off in Silver Point’s two shallow pools.

The poolside lounge and bar has a trendy, chilled, South Beach Miami vibe, with free Wi-Fi and friendly staff mixing tropical cocktails. The two-storey open concept restaurant serves up some excellent international favorites and Caribbean inspired cuisine with a modern twist, such as the mouthwateringly good flying fish wraps.

In the evening Silver Point has a chilled, romantic vibe. The bar closes at 11pm but after a day playing in the surf you’ll be more than ready to turn in.

The 58 spacious rooms, studios and suites are located across three three-storey buildings. All rooms are modern, modestly furnished but comfortable with all the amenities you could wish for, including: air-conditioning, flat-screen cable TV, DVD player, iPod docking station, tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer and iron. Suites and studios have kitchenettes with microwaves and fridges so you can enjoy some ‘home-cooked’ meals. At night leave the door to your private balcony/patio open and listen to the pounding surf as you drift off.
