Surfer’s Cafe

One of those unforgettable finds, Surfer’s Cafe is a neat, quirky hole in the wall. Offering free Wi-Fi and a beach view through two floor-to-ceiling wooden windows, it’s a deservedly popular lunch spot in Oistins.

Blink and you’ll miss the whole place, so the owner had a little fun with it. Check the ‘Obskewer’ on the roadside sign and in the names of cocktails and specialty coffees. Obscure or no, it’s fun and funky with a surfer’s laid-back vibe. On any given day, you’ll find visitors, local personalities, and yes, some actual surfers, board shorts, rash guards, sun block and all. A comfy armchair and couches right at the entrance signal right away that you’re welcome to stay a while. Chillax, man!

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Surfer’s Cafe and its culinary team of three driven young chefs offer a range of wraps, salads and sandwiches for lunch, and skewers and classic entrees at dinner. The most requested and recommended, though, is the cafe’s hefty, juicy all-beef burger. For the sweet rush and a true Bajan treat, try ‘Aunty Lynn’s Bread Pudding’.

Occasionally offering live music – reggae, rock, or pop – on the weekends, other nights the place is rocking DJ iPod for your listening pleasure, so check first to see what’s on. The bartenders will be happy to serve you a rum cooler, margarita, mojito or one of their original, rather naughtily named cocktails.

  • Surfer’s Cafe is totally relaxed, so walk in any time to catch the vibe.
  • To sit at the water’s edge, call ahead for tables 1, 2, or ‘The Bench’, a special, hidden-away spot that takes the view to a new level.
  • Sit and chat over coffee and if you absolutely have to, check your emails too.
  • But mostly, drink in the really great sea view and be glad you didn’t pass it right by.
