Dock Party at Le Phare Bleu Marina

They come by boat, car and on foot.  All are drawn by the aroma of a sizzling barbecue and the sounds of music and laughter.  A Dock Party at Le Phare Bleu is in full swing.  Tonight the live band keeping the crowd entertained is Men from the Mainland – the mainland being Carriacou, to be precise!

Amidst the floating docks a brightly lit barge has been set up.  This is the Bar, dance floor and stage.  Patrons match their dance moves not only to the groove of the music but to the gentle ebb and flow of the water beneath.

On the docks long tables and benches encourage visitors and locals to mix and mingle over a cold beer or potent rum punch.  Seafaring tales are swapped among visiting yachtsmen while Caribbean rhythms and hip movements are introduced to willing partners when the band belts out the ever popular calypsos, Dollar Wine and Footsteps!

Food is served buffet-style.  Choose from delicious seafood kebabs, juicy ribs, spicy chicken wings and have it with corn on the cob, jacket potatoes and salads.  Service is casual – disposable plates and cups – and the ambiance in the open air under the stars with the water lapping a few inches away, is carefree and relaxed.

Owners Dieter and Jana mix and mingle with their guests – Dieter, an accomplished musician, has also been known to jam with the band!  The bartender, who fancies himself as a calypso singer, leaves his post behind the bar for a quick turn behind the mic!  It’s all good fun!

Le Phare Bleu Marina and Hotel, holds its popular Dock Party quite regularly so it’s worth checking to see if one is scheduled during your stay in Grenada.
