True Blue Bay Resort

A 5 minute drive from Grenada’s Point Salines airport and across the bay from St. Georges University, True Blue Bay Resort is a fascinating collection of 49 rooms, suites and 2-bedroom villas located on the island’s southern peninsula.

Owners Russ and Magadalena have blended their English and Mexican heritages with a Caribbean flair and came up with a lively, fun-filled boutique resort that is as popular with couples and families as it is with wreck divers and sun seekers.

With their sponge painted walls and eclectic tropical furnishings, the rooms/suites have well equipped kitchenettes while the villas have spacious kitchens. Every room has a view of the bay – the tower suites even have telescopes for getting up close and personal. Airconditioning, Cable TV, Wi-Fi, are among the essential mod cons and a continental breakfast is included in the daily rate.

There is no shortage of things to do at True Blue, from lazing by one of the two pools or sipping a rum punch on your balcony, to an exploratory snorkeling trip or a full-on scuba dive with the professionals of on-site Aquanauts Grenada .

Want to go a bit further afield’  Take the complimentary 15 minute shuttle to the fabulous Grand Anse Beach – arguably the best beach in the Grenada, if not the Caribbean – and spend the day soaking up sea and sun.   Or stroll along the dock to the nearby Marina and charter a yacht for a day’s sailing!

By night the resort’s Dodgy Dock Bar, Lounge & Restaurant comes alive.  Happy Hour is a great opportunity to sip an exotic cocktail and make new friends.  Dine under the stars and see if you can identify the brilliant constellations. Don’t expect a printed menu, it changes frequently to take advantage of the day’s catch and fresh seasonal veg and fruit. So it will be presented to you on a blackboard. When the live band or DJ strikes up, feet start tapping and very soon the dance floor is filled.

The charming and friendly staff at True Blue Bay, are a major asset. Breakfast cook Omega is, in West Indian parlance:  a real character. Her traditional Grenadian breakfast is not to be missed and her omelettes are legendary. Award winning bartenders Derek and Akim make mean margaritas and feisty rum cocktails; and nothing is too much trouble for Alysha and her team at the front desk .  They’ll recommend and book restaurants and island tours, arrange for a baby sitter and even open up the boutique for you if it’s after hours.

  • Prepare to enjoy great snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, kayaking, sailing
  • Don’t expect a wide expanse of sandy beach
  • Refine your palate for rum with the Dodgy Dock Bar’s rum tasting evening
