Dodgy Dock Restaurant at True Blue Bay

The restaurant has always prided itself on a blend of Grenadian cuisine ‘ Conch Fritters, Callaloo Stuffed Chicken with creamy Nutmeg Sauce, Ginger Coconut Lobster, Guava Tart, Nutmeg Cheesecake ‘ and Mexican flavours courtesy of owner Magdalena’s culinary creativity.  Think quesadillas, fajitas and nachos and, best of all, her Kahlua Frozen Cream Cake.

More recently, British-born Chef Gary Birkett has joined the team bringing with him international experience and a willingness to introduce fresh local produce to established favourites. Look out for Callaloo & Cheddar Cheese Soufflé, Sweet Potato and Goats Cheese Croquettes, Fish & Bakes and to satisfy the sweet tooth a delicious Passion Fruit Tart.

Cooking classes with True Blue’s Grenadian cooks, Omega & Esther, are full of repartee. With a broad smile and lilting accent Omega tells it like it is while Esther gently demonstrates how to peel a plantain, dip in breadcrumbs and fry! Omega and Esther’s class is not just about cooking, they will also share ingenious tips on how to choose a paw paw (papaya) and put it in a brown paper bag to ripen; how to rub a green sapodilla with coconut fibre to bring out the flavor.  Omega also presides over True Blue’s made to order, a la carte breakfast ‘ be sure to try the Grenada Plantation Breakfast of Salt fish, Plantain and Coconut Bakes ‘where guests can choose from an English, Grenadian or Mexican Breakfast!

Meanwhile, the Dodgy Dock Bar and Lounge is a happening place every day of the week: Sunday it’s a Grenadian style family brunch; Mondays rum cocktails are shaken; Tuesdays spicy Grenadian dishes and live island music takes centre stage; Happy Hour on Wednesdays always draws a crowd for Beer, spicy wings and coconut fish fingers; Fridays are all Mexican with Margaritas, Latin dancers and salsa music; while on Saturdays the Caribbean beat kicks in with calypso music and a sizzling BBQ.

  • Cooking classes are free to in-house guests.  EC$10 charge to all others.
  • Happy Hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.  every day at the Dodgy Dock.
  • Lobster Bisque is amazing.
