Although the name sounds like a cold medicine, don’t let it put you off. Nylorac boasts that it’s got beauty products fit for a beauty queen ‘and its owner is a bonafide pageant winner. Miss Jamaica Universe 2009, Carolyn Yapp, innovatively named the store by spelling her name backwards. But it’s not her spelling skills that got her a spot on our site.

Nylorac is like a Wal-Mart for lotions and potions: luxury products that won’t break the plastic. Morrocanoil, Mixed Chicks, Mistral and Pacifica are just a few of the brands sold exclusively by Nylorac. In addition to all the makeup a woman could want, and an in-house nail technician, there’s make-up artiste Paul March, top ranking magician at Pulse Model Agency, the biggest in the Caribbean. Really, every woman should be glad to give it up to him. (we’re talking about your face, dear.)

Yapp, who is a certified aesthetician, does Dermalogica facials and eyebrow threading for special customers. Also a trained interior designer, she opted for a contemporary, warm and fun feel for the store, complete with pop art of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe et al. The clean and organized layout of the store makes for easy shopping.

Clearly schooled in proper customer service, Nylorac encourages you to sample products before you buy.
