Kariwak Village Tobago

These days everybody needs a little therapy. And not just the retail kind either. It’s more ‘what’s the meaning of life’ kind of therapy. At Kariwak Village you realise they key to a fulfilled life is about good food, good vibes, and being part of a community. That’s what everyone says about Kariwak. The staff treats you like nieces and nephews of Uncle Allan and Aunty Cynthia (Clovis), the owners, rather than mere guests. After three decades, Kariwak Village has proved to be a quintessentially Tobagonian creation: from its vegetable garden, whose herbs, seasoning and vegetables are the stars of the dining table. The food at Kariwak stands out for its freshness, flavour and creative use of local ingredients. The art and sculptures are by local artists; and its famous thatch-roof ajoupa recalls the Amerindian heritage of the island.

Families with kids, groups of friends, couples and even singletons all give Kariwak the thumbs up. It is a restful retreat where you can recharge your batteries and emerge full of life and zest. An afternoon in one of the hammocks around the garden certainly brings on a few Zen-like moments when you feel that all is well in the universe.

So if you’re an environmentally conscious person who prefers to eat local and appreciates efforts to reduce wastage, Kariwak Village will reduce your carbon footprint dramatically.
