Jen Events bills itself as an event planning company, but when Jen Johnson works side by side with husband Michael’who has 20 years of construction experience and owns local construction company Serenity Builders ‘they accomplish so much more than coordinating caterers, photographers and florists.
The business started off with Jen traveling the world, coordinating and designing events for groups as large as 6,000 people. She’s worked with big names like Aerosmith, created scavenger hunts in Vienna and safaris in Africa, and organized dinner for a large corporation at the Sydney Opera House.
Now Jen’s made her home on St Thomas and has brought her expertise to numerous big-time local events such as the grand opening of the downtown Hublot boutique, for which she and her husband built a museum within the store, honoring the watchmaker’s history. She’s also transformed a Seabourn luxury cruise ship, by building a dance floor over the pool, setting up a band stand for performances, and completing a huge light installation’in just under two hours while passengers were ashore exploring St Thomas.
Jen’s expertise is not limited to large headliner events. She brings more earthly visions to life, whether for an island wedding or birthday party.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for what you really want, no matter how unfeasible it may seem. Jen has a massive inventory (linens, table décor, pillows, couches, flat screen TVs, video game systems and more) plus her island connections and her husband’s workshop, where he builds components for each event, ensure that she will get it done just the way you want.
